ABOUT ME

I’m broadly interested in the evolution of acoustic and visual communication in birds.

Working in a museum has had a tremendous impact in my professional (and personal) life. It has taught me the importance of biological collections, and I am still fascinated by the many interesting questions that can be answered doing collection-based research.

But I also really enjoy field work, so I try to integrate both approaches to study different aspects of birds’ behavior, evolution and systematics.

EDUCATION

RESEARCH INTERESTS

Evolution of vocalizations in species with and without song learning.

In particular, I'm interested in the effect of morphological constraints, and the transmission of individual quality information

PhD in Biological Sciences

Plumage color and sexual dichromatism evolution.

I'm focusing in factors that could be important for dichromatism evolution but are still poorly studied, such as body size and color production mechanism.

Avian systematics & taxonomy

I'm interested in studying the congruence (or not!) of phenotypic and genetic information to better understand the speciation processes and improve species delimitations.
